How to choose the right sort of brush
Grimas professional quality makeup brushes are a delight to use. They are made in different bristle shapes and types for various jobs.
Oxhair and sable brushes benefit from an hour or two soaking in cold water before first use. This expands the bristles, which may have dried out in storage.
What the various types are for
Oxhair brushes are excellent for face painting. They are good economical brushes that last well. We recommend a size 4 for your first brush. It's small enough to handle easily, but not so small as to be fiddly. Oxhair brushes are the flat, chisel shape ideal for face painting. They come in sizes 2 to 10. The number is the approx width in mm.
Artificial brushes are firm and springy. They can be made with longer bristle than natural hair. This makes them good for long lines. They can be used for all types of makeup.
Sable brushes are the professional choice for stage makeup, beauty makeup and face painting. They are flexible and springy and, with proper care, will stay that way for years. Clean them with makeup remover and store bristles upwards.
Soft Ponyhair brushes are excellent for powder and rouge.
