Allergy advice for Grimas Pure makeup on sensitive skin

Grimas Pure makeup products are specially formulated for sensitive skin.

Because people can be allergic to almost anything, we can't say you will definitely not have a reaction to Grimas Pure. We can say that Grimas Pure is the highest quality professional makeup with none of the most common allergy-causing ingredients. This means it is much less likely to cause a reaction.

Perfumes are the commonest cause of contact allergy from cosmetics. Grimas Pure makeup is unperfumed.

Gluten molecules are too big to affect you through your skin, but makeup can be accidentally ingested - especially lipstick. Grimas Pure makeup is gluten free.

Parabens are linked to dermatitis and allergies. They are added to extend the shelf life of makeup. Grimas Pure makeup is paraben free but still keeps fresh for up to three years.

Halogenated products are linked to allergies and dry skin irritation. Grimas Pure makeup is free from halogenated products.

If you have had allergic reactions to makeup before

People who suffer from flexural eczema, asthma, or hay fever are more likely to have an irritant or allergic reaction to makeup. You may have had an allergic reaction to makeup in the past.  If you think you may be at risk of reacting, you can do a simple test before using your makeup for the first time.

Put a small amount of the makeup in a place where the skin is thinnest. Two good places for this are in the crook of your elbow and behind your ear. Leave the makeup in place as long as possible up to 24 hours.  If you experience any tingling or stinging, remove the makeup and return any unused product you have bought from us for a refund.

Avoid skin damage when removing your makeup

The removal method depends on the makeup but the things to avoid are:

Removing water-based makeup like Grimas Pure face paints

Rinse away the colour with tepid - not hot - water. Remove any residue by washing with a mild , pH-balanced detergent skin cleanser.  Either use a skin wash containing moisturiser or use a separate moisturiser.

Removing oil-based makeup like Grimas Pure stage makeup, lipstick or tattoo cover

Wipe away the colour with an oil-based remover like Grimas pure mineral oil makeup remover.
Follow this by washing with a mild , pH-balanced detergent skin cleanser.  Either use a skin wash containing moisturiser or use a separate moisturiser.
